Singapore (PRWEB) January 06, 2015

Formed in the fourth quarter of 2014, the new company has acquired 99.9% of EQHO Communications Lao Ltd. Both offices will now serve as production centres for EQHO Globalization Pte. Ltd.

The move is part of EQHO’s wider drive to boost regional growth ahead of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) formation in December 2015, and to simplify its operations in Asia by creating a single client-facing entity and point of financial control.

It will also mean having greater access to a pool of highly skilled and talented professionals to further enhance project offerings and customer satisfaction for both new and existing clients.

Royal Caribbean International Deploys ElevenOS for Onboard Internet Access to its Entire Fleet of Cruise Ships

Portland, OR (PRWEB) February 10, 2015

Today, leading hospitality technology provider, Eleven, announced that Royal Caribbean International had selected ElevenOS as the guest Internet management platform for its entire fleet of ships, and has completed deployment of ElevenOS on all 22 ships at the end of 2014, including the worlds first smartship, Quantum of the Seas.

ElevenOS is used to manage all aspects of this innovative Internet service including custom branded portal pages, guest authentication, billing, and advanced reporting. With the help of ElevenOS, Royal Caribbean is able to deliver a faster, more reliable onboard connection and seamless online guest experience that works across multiple guest devices (phones, tablets, etc.)

All the Connectivity Comforts of Home

The Quantum of the Seas, Allure of the Seas, and Oasis of the Seas, are equipped with cutting-edge satellite technology that delivers more bandwidth than any other ships in the cruise industry. This new Internet service provides much faster speeds and lower latency, which gives guests an experience closer to a land-based connection than ever before.

With ElevenOS and its satellite communications partners, Royal Caribbean is the first in the industry to offer unlimited Internet based on a per-day rate, so guests can stay connected without concern for minutes used or data transmitted. ElevenOS also enables Royal Caribbean to offer tiered bandwidth options, so users can choose the level of service that meets their needs and budget.

“ElevenOS provides us the power and flexibility that we need in order to revolutionize Internet communications at sea for Royal Caribbean International guests, commented Bill Martin, vice president and CIO for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. “Only in the last year can cruise vacationers enjoy the fiber-like Internet connectivity that can only be found aboard select Royal Caribbean International ships, as well as more than 10 times faster speed than the industry across the fleet. ElevenOS helps us effectively manage a range of products, pricing, accounting, and reporting, which has helped us deliver a seamless and stress-free Internet communications solution for our guests on vacation.

Revolutionizing the Cruise Industry

Nearly 2,000 hotels, convention centers, and ships worldwide use ElevenOS to manage guest Internet access, with about 60 hotels and other venues added each month. ElevenOS has been deployed on a variety of maritime environments over the 14 years they have been in business, but Royal Caribbean represents Elevens first cruise line deployment.

Weve worked closely with Royal Caribbean over the past three years to adapt our platform to the unique needs of the cruise industry, noted Elevens CEO, Dan Meub. ElevenOS is a proven leader in hospitality, so expanding into the cruise sector was a logical next step. As a cloud-based solution, ElevenOS is a great fit for the cruise industry because its architecture enables rapid development of custom functionality for any cruise line. ElevenOS reliability meets the cruise industrys high standards and yet does not consume precious onboard server space. We are excited to be a part of delivering this innovative Internet service at sea and look forward to working with Royal Caribbean to continue revolutionizing the cruise industry.

Some of the advanced functionality Eleven has adapted for Royal Caribbeans special requirements include extensive integration with property management and loyalty systems, customized portal pages in multiple languages, and dynamic time zones to support onboard time changes. Anthem of the Seas, the second ship in Royal Caribbeans Quantum class, will launch in April with this leading-edge satellite capability and will also run the ElevenOS platform.

ABOUT ELEVEN

Eleven delivers compelling software that powers the online guest experience in hotels, convention centers, apartments and cruise ships, with two key product lines: ElevenOS and ElevenGC, both of which run on Elevens cloud-based platform. ElevenOS is the only cloud-based guest Internet platform that manages the online guest experience across multiple devices, multiple locations, and multiple network service providers. ElevenGC is a family of five-star guest computing solutions flexible enough to be deployed in business centers, lobbies, suites, club lounges, and more. All solutions provide powerful revenue management so hotels can remain competitive while adding incremental revenue to offset their guest technology investment. PolyU to Launch the First-of-its-kind Master of Science in International Wine Management in Asia to Advance the Global Wine Industry

(PRWEB) February 04, 2015

Introducing this development, Professor Kaye Chon, Dean and Chair Professor of the SHTM and Walter Kwok Foundation Professor in International Hospitality Management, noted that as a key player in the vibrant international wine scene, Hong Kong offers a unique location for anyone aspiring to be a part of this dynamic growth area. He said, Combined with the huge growth of the wine market in Mainland China, the need for wine professionals with advanced, specialised training and education, as well as a global perspective continues to grow. The Master of Science (MSc) in International Wine Management has been designed to meet this demand.

Offered in Hong Kong Asias world city by the SHTM, the programme is the first-of-its-kind in the region. There is an increasing demand for wine trade personnel in Asia, but there is no other Masters programme to enhance their professional competence and strategic thinking, Professor Haiyan Song, Associate Dean of the SHTM and Programme Leader, explained. He noted that recent findings in Hong Kong shows that the wine industry requires more sophisticated skills to meet the needs of the international wine market, with 57.2% of full-time staff taking up positions at managerial and supervisory levels. However, only 5.2% of local industry practitioners possess wine-related professional qualifications.

This one-of-a-kind programme comes in time to help wine professionals to further their academic pathway for progression in the global wine industry. It grooms industry leaders, educators and researchers by deepening their understanding of the latest trends in the wine business, demystifying its complexities, and empowering them to lead the future development of the industry. Students of this programme will also have the opportunity to learn more about Mainland Chinese wine consumers and gain insights into some of the fastest growing and potentially lucrative wine markets in the world.

The programme was developed in consultation with noted wine industry figure Professor Jeannie Cho Lee, Professor of Practice (Wine) of the SHTM and the first Asian Master of Wine (MW), and endorsed by renowned industry leaders. It features residential study trips providing students with the opportunity to visit well-known wine regions, such as Burgundy or Bordeaux, to understand the best practice in wine production, trade and management with a view to increasing their international exposure and developing global networks. Based in the heart of the booming Asia-Pacific region, the SHTM is best placed to provide international education to meet the specific demands of wine industry, a truly global industry, Professor Jeannie Cho Lee remarked.

To be launched in the 2015/16 academic year, this new MSc programme will be available in both full-time and part-time modes.

International Volunteer Has an Unforgettable Experience Working in South American Orphanage

Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) January 28, 2015

Many aspiring individuals seek international internships and volunteer abroad opportunities not only for personal growth and work experience but also for cultural and language exposure. Through CrossContinental.org, another deserving candidate recently traveled abroad to experience life at an orphanage in Ecuador, South America.

Anmei Kirkes, a Chinese American, had the pleasure of taking this opportunity to volunteer abroad in Ecuador. The volunteer was highly enthusiastic about her trip, stating I am overjoyed by the experience and the opportunity to be able to volunteer in Ecuador. I learned so much while I was there and was able to grow so much as a person. The time spent with the children, workers, and host families and learning to live the way they live was extremely rewarding.

The orphanage project abroad took place in Ibarra, located at an altitude of approximately 2200 meters and about 2.5 hours north of the capital city Quito. The total number of children at the project was approximately 30, and volunteers’ typical duties included tutoring, gardening, cleaning, cooking, and doing laundry.

Anmei was very pleased with the services rendered by the people at CrossContinental .org, The work placement I received was pretty accurate. I requested an orphanage in a more urban area and that is exactly what I got. Anmei really enjoyed the girls at the orphanage, who ranged from 1 to 17 years in age. She commented, “It took the older girls a little bit longer to warm up to me than the little girls but now everything is great. Im really sad that its my last week here, I am really going to miss it.”

Anmei stayed with a host in Quito during her initial orientation period. After which, she moved to a host family in Ibarra to complete the work project itself. She had so much to say about the home-stay families, “The family in Ibarra has been great, always making sure I have enough to eat and taking me around the city on weekends. The lady that I stayed with in Quito was also very nice and I got to go on a little tour with her while I was there. The city is absolutely beautiful.”

Speaking of the cultural immersion experience, Anmei said, Staying with a host family instead of a hotel or somewhere by yourself really allows you to be immersed in the culture, so you experience life not just as a tourist but as someone who actually lives in that country. The cultural experience is more than I could have ever imagined and it touched my life in ways that I will never forget.

Experiences such as these are effective for developing cross-cultural understanding and witnessing problems commonly faced amongst orphanages abroad. This is something that must be learned firsthand so it goes without saying that quality international internships and volunteer abroad programs should be made available. Such programs increase cultural awareness and help make the world a better place due to mutual understanding and dedication.

In the end, Anmei expressed that she wouldnt trade this life-changing experience for anything. “Im so absolutely thankful for getting the chance to come here.”

Access free resources or plan a life-changing trip at http://www.CrossContinental.org.

About CrossContinental.org:

Haiti Energie, S.A./LLC Partners with Florida International University (FIU) to Solve Electricity Crisis in Haiti

Miami, FL (PRWEB) November 07, 2014

To solve the power crisis, Haiti Energie partnered with the FIUs Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering. Under the partnership agreement, the FIU will provide the engineering design and plan for every project Haiti Energie takes on.

FIU has one of the greatest energy labs in the world, said Dr. Romain. The technical support provided by the graduate students at the FIUs Smart Grid Test Bed Research Lab will allow us to be even more efficient and reliable. It also enables us to build micro-scaled smart grid in different municipalities throughout Haiti, as well as provide solar systems for small and medium-size businesses, such as hotels, schools and hospitals.

Haiti Energie also partnered with a strong solar energy system provider that will help fund operations and provide batteries, wiring, racking and all the accoutrements necessary to transform a solar plan into a highly efficient and productive solar system. With this agreement in place, we are gaining a reliable business partner for hassle-free installations, said Dr. Romain.

The new partnership agreements strengthen Haiti Energies position as the leader in Haitis energy sector. Haiti Energie is the only company in the country poised to solve this overwhelming power crisis, said Dr. Romain. We are one of the private company in Haiti that is licensed by the government to sell electricity to private and government institutions, as well as commercial and residential customers.

The demand for solar power in Haiti is rapidly growing, as only about 20% of the islands population are estimated to have access to electricity. The capital city of Port-au-Prince has the most widespread electrical grid in the nation, but still only covers about 45% of the citys population.

At over $ 0.5/KWH, the cost of electricity in Haiti is over four times as expensive as it is throughout much of the United States. Currently, Haiti gets 60% of its electrical energy from imported diesel fuel, most of which comes from Venezuela. Residential and commercial buildings alike devote more than 40% of their budget to meeting this need. Solar generated electricity can dramatically cut these costs and reduce emissions.

Haiti is an ideal country to utilize solar power, as its skies are clear for 71% of daylight hours. Innovations in production and an increase of producers have resulted in decreasing costs for solar panels, inverters, mounting equipment and other solar products, making them an affordable solution to the power crisis in Haiti. Solar power prices have fallen off a cliff since the technology first got commercial exposure in the 1970s. Todays solar power systems are on average half of what they used to cost back in 2000, making solar an increasingly competitive energy choice.

Haiti Energie is committed to solving electricity crisis in Haiti with clean, affordable solar power. Founded just five years ago under the leadership of Dr. Ed D. Romain, its list of achievements is remarkable. Haiti Energie has installed over 3.5 Megawatts of solar-based electricity throughout Haiti. The company was at the forefront of designing and installing solar systems for the Mirebalais Hospital, the largest solar electric hospital in the world. Haiti Energie has also installed thousands of solar street lights, which has had a direct impact on lowering the crime rate in those areas.

Haiti Energie has worked with the government of Haiti to deregulate the power sector in the country. As a result, two regions in the country have been open to investors. For the first time in history, the Haitian government initiated a process of modernization of the public company, Electricity of Haiti, by launching an international call for tenders for the selection of strategic investors in South-East and North-West.

Haiti Energie carries a full line of solar-based equipment that provides electricity to both residential and commercials buildings. The company provides a wide array of services, from design to supply, installation and repair. Haiti Energie is incorporated both in Haiti and the United States.

About Haiti Energie, S.A.:

Haiti Energie, S.A. (http://www.haitienergie.net/) is a renewable energy company, bringing affordable solar power and access to electricity in Haiti. Through careful analysis, strong customer support, and cost-effective solutions, Haiti Energie provides a wide selection of products and services designed to dramatically lower energy costs and ensure access to electricity in Haitian communities.
